About Rural & Migrant Ministry, Inc.
#WeAreRMM

We have been on the cutting edge of rural empowerment for over thirty years, developing models that are being utilized by many other organizations and congregations. Our efforts  have made, and are making a difference. Perhaps the best way to illustrate this is to point you to our accomplishments page, or our milestones page on our website.  But we will point out two amazing ones: 1) Over 95% of our high school Youth Empowerment Program graduates have gone on to college. Graduates of our Youth Empowerment Program can be found in leadership positions in the Obama Administration, New York University, The Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, the YWCA and the Worker Justice Center. 2) We have spearheaded the passage of three Laws benefiting farmworkers. Thousands of farmworkers in New York, now have the right to drinking water, field sanitation and an increased minimum wage, in part because of RMM.

Here is a quote from a graduate of the Youth Empowerment Program:

I would like to thank RMM for helping me to grow personally and for exposing me to the world of social justice. The lessons that I learned from the organization and our youth group are invaluable and have helped me through these four years. . . . I will never forget all that I received from RMM and thank you for teaching me the importance of empowerment and giving people choices. . .  Chakera McIntosh (former YAG member)

We are seasoned, qualified, and committed.

  • Thirty four years and counting.
  • Over 2000 campers.

Our audience and constituency is vast and diverse.

If you're a big fan of Collaboration, Partnership, and Networking then RMM is the perfect choice.

RMM is an organization that spreads across the State of New York and involves; farmworkers, food processing workers, children living in motels and isolated farm camps, the president of the New York State AFL-CIO, social activist deacons, bishops, students from Vassar, Cornell and SUNY (to name but a few), and their professors, activists, Unitarians, Pentecostals and a Reconstructionist Rabbi, folks living on the islands of Staten, Long and Grand (in the middle of the Niagara River in Buffalo). The list is extensive.

RMM makes the most of your donation.

Time and time again we have shown that we can make the most of the support we are given. As one development director for another organization said:

“Your accomplishments are nothing short of remarkable in light of your limited budget."

We bring people together across the State and we help an amazing group of people develop their leadership skills – with vans that have hundreds of thousands of miles on them, through meetings in church basements and in the back of orchards. We search out volunteers right and left, and when we travel across the State, we stay in people’s homes rather than hotels.  We are determined to make the most of your dollar (or ten thousand dollars).  Come look at our budget and you will see what we mean.

And yet, we are professional. We have some of the top people in the world involved.  Our staff are dedicated, experienced professionals - experts in their field.  Our Board leadership includes New York State’s best known leaders from a variety of sectors. Our Senior Fellows and volunteer consultants include former leaders of New York State’s leading foundations, prominent activists, church leaders, management consultants and professors.
